DAMITA System
Next-Generation Integrated Low-Altitude Air Defense System
The DAMITA System is a next-generation integrated low-altitude air defense system jointly conceived and driven by Dr. Khalifa Alblooshi and Tareq. Since 2024, they have jointly led the entire development process of DAMITA, from conceptual design, strategic architecture, the establishment of an international cooperation framework, system development and execution, to global market introduction.
Dr. Khalifa Alblooshi and Tareq brought together world-class defense companies from leading defense nations, including Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Austria, Monaco, and the United States, under a unified strategic cooperation framework. Through this initiative, they established the foundation that enabled Calidus to successfully complete the full development of the DAMITA System.
The DAMITA System is a next-generation integrated low-altitude air defense platform completed through the strategic integration of world-class, field-proven defense technologies and advanced equipment. In particular, the system is configured around top-tier solutions whose performance has been validated through operational deployment and demonstration in real combat environments, including the battlefield conditions of Ukraine. By integrating detection, identification, tracking, engagement, and command-and-control functions into a single unified architecture, DAMITA is engineered to respond effectively to complex drone threats.
DAMITA represents one of the world’s first fully packaged integrated low-altitude air defense solutions, transforming low-altitude air defense assets that were previously operated as separate systems into a complete operational package. Through this achievement, the UAE has reached a significant milestone in the field of next-generation low-altitude drone defense. The DAMITA System now stands as a symbol of UAE-led defense innovation and a strategic platform that establishes a new benchmark for low-altitude air defense.
The DAMITA System is scheduled to be officially unveiled to the global market at the Dubai Airshow on November 17, 2026. This unveiling will mark an important milestone in UAE-led next-generation defense innovation, introducing DAMITA as a flagship integrated air defense platform designed to deliver advanced low-altitude defense capabilities for counter-drone and complex-threat environments.
In today’s battlefield environment, drones have become one of the most rapidly proliferating and critical threats. Accordingly, DAMITA has been configured as an essential integrated response system for national security, critical infrastructure protection, military defense operations, and urban protection missions.
The system is a highly suitable strategic defense platform for the UAE Government to expand its defense cooperation relationships, formed through the procurement of advanced foreign weapon systems, into practical offset cooperation programs. DAMITA is not merely the sale of individual defense assets; it is a fully integrated air defense solution that combines proven technologies from leading defense nations with Calidus’ system integration capabilities. Through this platform, the UAE can connect its defense cooperation structure with supplier nations to technology collaboration, joint demonstrations, localization, industrial cooperation, defense supply chain expansion, and potential third-country export opportunities. In this regard, DAMITA can be developed into a UAE-led platform for practical offset implementation and strategic defense exports.
DAMITA can also be flexibly expanded, adapted, and operated in accordance with each country’s security environment, operational requirements, and urban protection needs. This structure provides significant strategic value by enabling the UAE Government to transform defense partnerships beyond procurement-based relationships into long-term industrial cooperation and export-oriented collaboration.
All vehicle integration and equipment mounting for DAMITA have been completed on Calidus vehicles. The system’s core engagement capability against drone threats is centered on a Rheinmetall 35mm system configured as a four-unit set, combined with a powerful CN system-based radar and tracking architecture. Through this configuration, radar, EO/IR cameras, RF scanners, and tracking equipment are interconnected within a high-performance integrated defense architecture, providing rapid and precise response capabilities against low-altitude drone threats.
In addition to its hard-kill integrated air defense configuration, DAMITA has also been designed for separate operation as an urban drone detection, identification, and tracking system. The urban counter-drone system is configured around radar, EO/IR cameras, and RF scanners, enabling real-time drone detection and identification even in complex urban environments. Demonstration testing of the DAMITA Urban Counter-Drone System is currently underway with relevant government authorities in the Republic of Korea.
The flight path of a detected drone can be transmitted in real time to a central command-and-control center, allowing relevant authorities to immediately monitor the drone’s location, route, and threat level, and to respond accordingly. Through this capability, DAMITA can be effectively utilized not only in military operational environments, but also for the protection of cities, airports, seaports, power plants, military facilities, government buildings, and critical national infrastructure.
Based on this modular architecture, DAMITA can be operated not only as a complete integrated low-altitude air defense weapon system, but also as a scalable platform applicable as an independent drone detection and surveillance solution. DAMITA holds strong potential to expand into a UAE-led strategic defense export platform and can be applied in various configurations according to each country’s security environment and operational requirements.
To introduce the DAMITA System to the Government of the Republic of Korea, strategic marketing activities are also being carried out through Calidus Korea. The DAMITA System was publicly introduced in the December 1, 2025 issue of Defense Daily, a defense-focused publication distributed to the Army, Navy, Air Force, and relevant government agencies. In parallel, media outreach to major press organizations is being actively pursued, while trademark registration and patent application procedures are also being carried out to strengthen the system’s legal and commercial foundation in Korea.

an integrated air defense solution to defeat mass-drone and swarm attacks.
DAMITA
Complete Defense Under All Weather Conditions
DAMITA is a next-generation integrated low-altitude air defense system built around the Rheinmetall 35mm AHEAD airburst ammunition-based hard-kill architecture as its core defensive capability. While laser and HPM systems may be employed as supporting countermeasures, the foundation of DAMITA lies in its ability to deliver immediate, reliable, and physical neutralization of aerial threats in real battlefield conditions.
The 35mm AHEAD airburst round is one of the most effective hard-kill solutions for countering low-altitude drone threats. The round is programmed to detonate precisely ahead of the target, creating a dense cloud of tungsten sub-projectiles in the target’s flight path. This enables DAMITA to engage and defeat fast, small, low-altitude targets, close-range intrusions, drone swarms, and residual threats with a high degree of effectiveness.
Unlike systems that depend solely on direct impact, AHEAD creates a lethal interception zone around the target. This makes it particularly effective against compact, fast-moving, and hard-to-hit aerial threats. In modern counter-drone operations, where reaction time is extremely limited and multiple threats may approach simultaneously, this hard-kill capability provides the decisive advantage.
The importance of hard-kill defense is clear. In actual operational environments, drones may approach at low altitude, in large numbers, and under difficult weather or terrain conditions. Rain, fog, dust, haze, thermal distortion, mountainous terrain, and complex urban environments can reduce the effectiveness of laser-based or purely electronic countermeasures. In contrast, the AHEAD-based hard-kill system provides immediate physical engagement and serves as the most reliable final defensive layer.
Laser systems offer precision and low cost per engagement, but they require sufficient dwell time to heat and disable a target. This can limit their effectiveness against mass drone attacks or rapidly approaching threats. Lasers may also be affected by adverse weather, visibility limitations, and terrain obstruction. HPM systems can be useful for disrupting drone electronics, communications, navigation, and control circuits under certain conditions, but they remain condition-dependent and may not guarantee the same effect against every threat type.
For this reason, DAMITA places hard-kill capability at the center of its defense architecture. Laser and HPM systems are supporting tools, while the AHEAD-based hard-kill system remains the primary means of assured defense. This structure allows DAMITA to overcome the operational limitations of laser and electronic countermeasures while maintaining a reliable physical defeat capability against critical drone threats.
Through this hard-kill-centered architecture, DAMITA provides powerful and dependable low-altitude drone defense across adverse weather, complex terrain, urban protection missions, military facilities, critical infrastructure, and drone swarm attack scenarios. By combining the certainty of AHEAD airburst technology with supporting laser and HPM capabilities, DAMITA delivers complete low-altitude defense under all weather conditions.
